In a fierce critique, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader CR Kesavan condemned the Tamil Nadu government's decision to replace the national Rupee symbol with the state's 'Ru' symbol. He accused the ruling DMK of insulting Tamil pride and displaying anti-federal tendencies.

Kesavan remarked, "The DMK's action of dropping the national currency symbol from its Budget is a clear indication of their anti-federal nature. This move insults the Tamil sentiment, especially considering the national currency symbol was crafted by a prominent Tamil Nadu academic." He further accused the DMK of using this issue to shift attention away from their alleged governance failures.

Kesavan criticized the DMK's governance, describing the last four years under their rule as a 'dark chapter' in Tamil Nadu's history, marked by misgovernance and broken promises. He asserted that the public will not be misled by the DMK's actions and will eventually hold them accountable.
