Bamboo Planting Initiative Springs Forward in Palghar

Maharashtra's Palghar district has launched awareness rallies to promote bamboo plantation, targeting one crore trees in Thane and Palghar. Led by District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, the initiative aims to benefit the environment and rural economies by involving around 9,000 farmers.

The administration in Maharashtra's Palghar district is spearheading a series of awareness rallies aimed at encouraging farmers to embrace bamboo plantation, according to an official announcement on Friday.

This move is part of the broader state government goal to plant one crore bamboo trees, focusing efforts in the Thane and Palghar districts, as confirmed by District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar. The rallies will run from May 15 to May 18, with objectives to educate villagers on the ecological and economic advantages that bamboo cultivation offers.

'This initiative is crucial, not only for environmental conservation, but also for boosting the livelihoods of our rural and tribal communities,' Dr. Jakhar emphasized. Various agricultural officers, alongside forest development and social forestry departments, as well as Gram Rojgar Sevaks, have been instructed to actively engage in this endeavor. About 9,000 farmers are poised to participate in this cause, with rallies strategically distributed across Palghar.
