Retired Indian Army officer Major General Dhruv C Katoch stated on Friday that Pakistan tried to escalate tensions, but the Indian armed forces responded decisively, notably by dismantling Lahore's air defense. Major General Katoch suggested this was a last-ditch effort by Pakistan's Army Chief, Asim Munir, to maintain his authority.

In an interview with ANI, Major General Katoch remarked, "Pakistan is instigating the situation repeatedly. This move by Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir is a bid to secure his position." He further mentioned, "India has responded aptly to Pakistan. Our air defense shot down the missiles and drones from Pakistan, and we destroyed Lahore's air defense network."

The remarks from Major General Katoch follow recent border tensions between India and Pakistan. Highlighting India's defense prowess, former Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Shirish Baban Deo (Retd), applauded the Indian Air Force's use of the S-400 Sudarshan Chakra missile system. This system was effectively deployed to neutralize threats on Thursday night.

Air Marshal Deo stressed the S-400's precision and capability to counter medium-range ballistic missiles. Speaking to ANI, he stated, "It is an advanced system, likely the most formidable globally. It includes multiple radars and missiles, each tailored for diverse threats, ensuring a high kill probability."

Commenting on the Harpy drone, Air Marshal Deo added, "We also deploy Harpy drones, equipped to detect and target active radars. These drones can pinpoint and eliminate radar sites, even if they're turned off later, providing a strategic advantage by neutralizing enemy air defenses effectively."
