Tripura celebrated International Nurses Day 2025 with a state-level event attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha, who praised nurses for their indispensable contributions. The celebration, organized by the Tripura Nursing Council at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, took place under the theme 'Our Nurses, Our Future.'
In his address, Chief Minister Saha acknowledged the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, expressing admiration for nursing as a noble profession. He urged nurses to view their work as a social service and pressed for adherence to Nursing Council guidelines by nursing institutes. Highlighting educational strides, Saha noted the introduction of ANM and GNM courses in the state.
Amid the celebrations, Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy commended nurses for their critical role during the Covid-19 pandemic, emphasizing the need for advanced training. Dr. Subhashish Debbanna pointed out nursing staff shortages and urged action, while also announcing the new designation of 'Nursing Officers.' The event honored dedicated nurses and outstanding nursing students.
