Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal participated in the International Yoga Day celebrations held at the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai on Saturday. With the theme 'Yoga for One Earth and One Health,' Sonowal addressed reporters, emphasising yoga as 'Bharat's gift of wellness' to the world, and extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating yoga to a global movement promoting wellness, good health, harmony, and peace.
Sonowal remarked on the significant influence of yoga, saying, 'Yoga is Bharat's gift of wellness to the world.' He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of yoga as a global phenomenon and urged everyone to integrate yoga into their daily routines. Earlier, Modi participated in the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, endorsing yoga as a timeless gift that unites humanity in 'health and harmony.'
The celebrations in Visakhapatnam featured the scenic coastline and a naval display, enhancing the event's grandeur. Modi commended the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh government, particularly Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, for organising the event. He praised their leadership as 'inspiring' and lauded the state's commendable initiative in promoting yoga.
