Congress MP Imran Masood has called for India to stand by Iran as tensions rise between the nation and Israel. He stressed the longstanding cultural and trade relations between India and Iran, urging for solidarity as Iran navigates these challenging times. 'Iran is an old friend of ours,' he remarked.
Masood further emphasized that Iran has not initiated any attacks, but rather has been attacked. He pointed out that international agencies monitor Iran's nuclear programs, thus any aggression against Iran is unwarranted. He urged global resistance against such 'dadagiri', highlighting the unfair treatment Iran faces on the international stage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his recent communications with Iranian leadership, echoed the need for dialogue and diplomacy to restore regional stability. Addressing the situation via social media, he called for immediate de-escalation, underscoring the necessity for peace, security, and stability in the region. In parallel developments, the US conducted strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, which Iran condemned as illegal, vowing to continue its nuclear activities.
