Punjab Police's Major Drug Bust: International Cartel Dismantled

In a joint operation, Punjab Police, along with BSF and Rajasthan Police, dismantled a Pakistan-Canada drug cartel, seizing 60.302 kg of heroin near the International Border. Nine operatives across four states were arrested in this continued crackdown on narcotics under the 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign.

In a significant operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police collaborated with the Border Security Force (BSF) and Rajasthan Police to dismantle a massive international drug cartel. This cartel, linked to smuggler Tanveer Shah in Pakistan and handler Joban Kaler in Canada, was brought down as a large consignment of heroin was confiscated near the International Border in Barmer, Rajasthan, as confirmed by a police official on Monday.

Punjab Police's Director General, Gaurav Yadav, noted on social media platform X, "In a massive crackdown, the #Amritsar Commissionerate Police, with the support of the BSF and Rajasthan Police, have dismantled a major international drug cartel." The operation led to the recovery of 60.302 kg of heroin, showcasing the collaborative effort's success.

This operation is part of the larger 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign initiated 120 days ago by Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to combat the drug menace. So far, over 19,735 smugglers have been arrested as special teams conduct state-wide raids, further strengthening Punjab's resolve to eradicate narcotics.
