Assam Sets New Record in Paddy Procurement Amidst Kharif Marketing Surplus
Assam achieved a record high in paddy procurement during the Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25, acquiring nearly seven lakh metric tonnes. This marks a significant increase from the previous season's 3.14 lakh MT. The state has committed to improving market access and ensuring farmers receive the Minimum Support Price.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state has set a new record by procuring nearly seven lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25. This achievement signifies a more than two-fold increase from the previous year's procurement of 3.14 lakh MT.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state's dedication to linking farmers with markets and guaranteeing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) they deserve. In KMS 2022-23, Assam procured 5.92 lakh MT, indicating consistent growth in agricultural output and procurement efforts.
While setting an initial target of 5,85,500 MT for 2024-25, the government surpassed its goals, reflecting a robust support system for farmers and a commitment to sustainable agricultural practices.
