The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has commenced a significant march in Palghar district, attracting nearly 50,000 participants from all tehsils. This massive mobilization highlights longstanding demands, including the full implementation of the Forest Rights Act and the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA).

Additional demands encompass the vesting of temple, 'inaam,' and government lands to the rightful tillers, reinforcing MGNREGA, repealing the 'smart meter' scheme, and nullifying the four Labour Codes. The march also calls for halting the proposed Wadhwan and Murbe ports. CPI(M) Politburo member Ashok Dhawale emphasized the gravity of these demands in a recent release.

The march launched from Charoti in Dahanu tehsil and planned an overnight stop in Manor, before proceeding to the Palghar District Collectorate on Tuesday. Participants are prepared to hold an indefinite sit-in at the Collectorate until their demands are acknowledged. Farmers, Adivasis, workers, women, youth, and students, along with various organizations, are actively participating in this movement.
