In an escalating confrontation over election integrity, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised allegations of significant poll irregularities during a press conference, asserting that 1,00,250 votes were illicitly manipulated in Karnataka's Mahadevapura Assembly. Labeling the elections as 'choreographed,' Gandhi accused the ruling party of orchestrating a 'vote theft' strategy.
Gandhi's claims focus on the BJP's unexpected victory in Mahadevapura, despite Congress's success in other seats. He detailed the alleged malpractices, including duplicate voters, fake addresses, and suspicious bulk registrations. Asserting control over election outcomes, he questioned the polling dynamics citing abrupt electoral date changes.
Responding decisively, the Chief Electoral Officer asked Gandhi to formalize his allegations in an affidavit under Rule 20(3)(b) of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
