Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the redevelopment project for the Janki Mata Temple in Punaura Dham, a significant cultural and religious site in Sitamarhi, Bihar. The event, attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, marks a major step in preserving and enhancing this revered landmark.

Shah announced via a social media update that this initiative heralds a joyous occasion for the nation, especially for Mithilanchal. The plan encompasses comprehensive upgrades to the sacred temple and premises, located at what is believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita, a central figure in Indian mythology.

The government has also taken steps to improve accessibility for devotees. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Sitamarhi-Delhi Amrit Bharat Train, boosting connectivity to the site. The Punaura Dham area also features attractions such as a lake linked to Sita's pregnancy, and Panth Pakar, which is tied to her marriage, enhancing its appeal to visitors.
