The Cordon and Search Operation executed at the state level was instructed by DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, with vigilant oversight by Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla. Police Commissioners and Senior Superintendents were tasked to ensure substantial police presence at the stations, with SP-ranked officers supervising the activity.
Throughout the three-hour crackdown, thousands were scrutinized, leading to the detention of 72 suspicious individuals. Simultaneously, on the 160th day of the anti-drug campaign Yudh Nashian Virudh, Punjab Police raided 352 known drug hotspots, arresting 96 smugglers and registering 59 FIRs. These significant operations have increased total arrests to 25,149 since the campaign's onset.
The raids resulted in seizing 1.2 kg of heroin, 1.1 kg of opium, 12,627 intoxicant pills, and Rs 2.3 lakh in drug-linked cash. Special DGP noted that over 232 police teams, led by 106 gazetted officers, conducted thorough checks of 375 individuals at identified locations. Additionally, Punjab Police facilitated the de-addiction of 53 drug-afflicted persons, encouraging rehabilitation efforts as part of ongoing state strategies.
