In a significant move, the Chhattisgarh State Waqf Board declared on Monday that all mosques, dargahs, imambaras, and khanqahs in the state are required to hoist the national flag on Independence Day. Waqf Board Chairman Salim Raj highlighted that this initiative embodies Indian Muslims' respect for the Tricolour.
The decision mandates flag hoisting at the main entrance or in front of religious sites, with ceremonies led by mosque committees and imams. A special portal has been established to document the celebrations through photographs from each location, ensuring complete participation across the state.
Parallelly, Delhi is preparing for the festive season by organizing interaction-cum-briefing programs for private security personnel across all police districts. Aimed at reinforcing their role in public safety, these meetings focus on security protocols and developing skills to respond to potential threats effectively. Security kits were distributed to enhance their preparedness.
Addressing gatherings at the University of Delhi and Lotus Temple, SBK Singh, the new Commissioner of Police, emphasized the critical role of private guards in community policing. Praharis were encouraged to maintain vigilance, conduct efficient searches, and maintain crowd management during Independence Day celebrations and festive times.
