Authorities in Pune announced a red alert for the Ghat areas as heavy rainfall continues to impact various parts of the city and its surrounding regions. Pune city itself remains under an orange alert for the next two days, according to District Collector Jitendra Dudi.
In response to worsening weather, the release of water from Khadakwasla and Pawna dams has been adjusted, as both are over 95% full. Officials are coordinating with the Irrigation Department to prevent flood risks. No incidents or road closures have been reported yet.
In Mumbai, a red alert accompanies the closure of government and semi-government offices, with advisories for private firms to allow remote work due to extreme rainfall predictions. Since Monday, certain areas have received over 250 mm of rain within 24 hours, prompting statewide cautions from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
