PM Modi Launches Metro Projects in Kolkata and Inaugurates Key Developments in Bihar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several metro projects in Kolkata to enhance urban connectivity and reduce travel times. He also visited Bihar to inaugurate infrastructure projects valued at approximately Rs 13,000 crore, including the Amrit Bharat Express and the Aunta-Simaria bridge over the River Ganga.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated key metro rail projects in Kolkata, advancing his initiative for world-class infrastructure and enhanced urban connectivity. During his visit to Jessore Road Metro Station, Modi inaugurated the Noapara-Jai Hind Bimanbandar service, the Sealdah-Esplanade, and the Beleghata-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay metro routes.
Through video conferencing, he also launched services for the Sealdah-Esplanade and Beleghata-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay metro lines. Modi's metro ride from Jessore Road Metro Station to Jai Hind Bimanbandar was a highlight. The Sealdah-Esplanade line promises to cut travel time from 40 minutes to 11, while Beleghata-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay enhances IT hub connectivity.
These metro lines aim to boost connectivity across Kolkata's bustling zones and provide significant time savings to countless commuters, according to official statements. Earlier, Modi was in Bihar, laying foundation stones and inaugurating development projects worth Rs 13,000 crore in Gaya. Among these was the Amrit Bharat Express to Delhi and the Aunta-Simaria bridge project, enhancing connectivity on NH-31 over the River Ganga.
Modi emphasized that the Amrit Bharat Express supplements India's burgeoning rail network alongside the Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat trains. He, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and other dignitaries celebrated the unveiling of these advancements.
