Atul Sharma, a Kasumpti resident, has requested security intervention from the Himachal Pradesh Police, citing threats to his life stemming from his whistleblowing actions. Sharma has filed a complaint against the Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena's service extension, labeling the letter to the Director General of Police an 'SOS call for protection.'

In communications to the police chief, Sharma reported ongoing attempts to silence him after questioning the legality of Saxena's tenure. Sharma claims he faces ongoing harassment, including being tailed and having his home watched by unknown individuals as part of a purported effort to pressure withdrawal of his complaint.

Sharma has also contested the state government's approval of Saxena's position despite pending charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act in Delhi. He argues that such consent was a serious breach of central guidelines and is seeking protection under the Whistleblower Protection Act, 2014. Sharma warned that ignoring his pleas could not only jeopardize his safety but also erode public confidence in the state's capacity to protect whistleblowers.

The controversy has garnered attention as Saxena's tenure and clearance are scrutinized further. Sharma has initiated a legal case, Atul Sharma vs Union of India & Ors., alleging a corruption scandal. While police spokespersons have yet to respond, the issue places increased scrutiny on both the state government and law enforcement bodies, given its politically sensitive nature.
