Poland Urges EU to End Reliance on Russian Energy

The call to action comes in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, which prompted most European Union nations to sever their energy ties with Russia. However, the Druzhba oil pipeline remains operational, delivering Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia.

Despite broader EU steps to cut energy links with Moscow, Hungary and Slovakia continue to import significant energy supplies from Russia. Motyka's stance signals Poland's desire for a united EU front against Russian energy exports, emphasizing the need for collective action among member states.
