Friday marked a significant milestone in India's dairy industry as Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 'Sabar Dairy Plant' in Haryana's Rohtak district, the largest of its kind in the country. With dignitaries including Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar in attendance, the event underscored the substantial Rs 350 crore investment aimed at benefiting rural milk producers.
Amit Shah highlighted the new plant's role in fulfilling dairy demands across the NCR, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to the agricultural sector through the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation. This initiative, he noted, addresses a long-standing demand of farmers, promoting the development of cooperatives nationwide.
By 2029, the Ministry envisions a cooperative society in every panchayat, enhancing India's dairy production capabilities. Sabar Dairy, originating in Gujarat, now engages 35 lakh women and generates annual business worth Rs 85,000 crore, showcasing the power of cooperative societies in transforming rural economies.
