In a dramatic encounter in Meerut's Sarurpur police station area, Uttar Pradesh Police shot dead Shehzad, alias Nikki, a criminal with a history of severe offenses including rape, robbery, and attempted murder. The incident adds to the growing list of police operations aimed at reducing crime rates in the region.

Shehzad's past included five years of imprisonment for raping a minor. He was accused again of committing a crime against a seven-year-old, leading to grievous injuries. A bounty of Rs 25,000 had been placed for his capture. Despite medical attention post-encounter, he succumbed to his injuries, Meerut SSP Vipin Tada confirmed.

Simultaneously in Lucknow, another intense face-off occurred as police confronted Lalit Kashyap, accused in a teenage girl gangrape case. While trying to evade capture, Kashyap was injured in retaliatory police firing. These actions reflect the ongoing challenges and measures in tackling heinous crimes across Uttar Pradesh.
