The benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, closed marginally higher in the Muhurat trading session held on Tuesday, marking the start of Samvat Year 2082. This one-hour symbolic trading session is conducted to coincide with Diwali and the opening of new accounting books.
The BSE Sensex concluded with a modest gain of 62.97 points, ending at 84,426.34, despite dipping to a low of 84,286.40. Concurrently, the NSE Nifty appreciated by 25.45 points, closing at 25,868.60, indicating a positive market sentiment driven by firm global cues.
Major gainers in the Sensex included Bajaj Finserv, rising by 1.42%, and Axis Bank, which gained 0.80%. The broader market also saw favorable shifts, with the BSE Midcap and SmallCap indices rising by 0.23% and 0.91%, respectively.
