Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has urged GST officers to maintain politeness and empathy when dealing with honest taxpayers, emphasizing the importance of technology in accelerating registration approvals and resolving grievances.

Speaking at the inauguration of the CGST building in Ghaziabad, Sitharaman highlighted the need for prompt disciplinary actions against Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) officers for any misconduct, signaling a zero-tolerance policy for unethical behavior.

The minister stressed the use of technology to lessen taxpayer compliance burdens and identified the importance of concluding pending GST investigations with quality orders, aimed at reducing litigation costs.
