Spain has temporarily suspended its pork exports to China due to an outbreak of African swine fever virus near Barcelona, according to a senior official from the Agriculture Ministry.
In a press briefing, Emilio Garcia, the Director-General of Agri-Food Production Health and Animal Welfare, explained that the decision aligns with a bilateral protocol requiring the certification of virus-free shipments by Chinese authorities.
The suspension covers pork products from across Spain, and exports will only resume once Beijing grants approval.
