The Supreme Court on Monday suggested that the Centre reevaluate its strategy for curbing air pollution levels in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), assessing its effectiveness. Chief Justice Kant questioned the current measures, urging the authorities to determine if the implemented actions have achieved the desired outcomes.

Justice Kant pressed Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati on other pollution contributors beyond stubble burning. The court emphasized the need for scientific analysis of these factors, criticizing the ease at which farmers are often blamed.

The court will revisit the air pollution issue bi-monthly, with the next hearing scheduled for December 10. Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality index (AQI) hovered around 'poor', with several areas reaching 'very poor'. Despite past improvements, persistent pollution challenges remain in Delhi-NCR.
