On Tuesday, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra strongly criticized the Congress leadership in the state for failing to address pressing issues faced by the farming community. This statement comes ahead of a planned BJP protest aimed at highlighting the plight of farmers under the current regime.

Vijayendra pointed out during an interview with ANI that internal conflicts within the Congress government have led to the neglect of critical agricultural issues. He highlighted the ongoing struggles of sugarcane growers, who have been protesting for two months without receiving a viable solution. Similarly, maize farmers have been adversely affected, unable to access procurement centers, forcing them to sell at lower prices to middlemen at Rs 1500-1600 per quintal instead of the central government's set price of Rs 2400 per quintal.

The BJP accused the Congress government of failing to compensate farmers adequately following severe state-wide floods, noting a significant gap between government promises and action. Despite stepping up to protest, the responsibility, according to Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, also lies with the Centre. He called on the central authorities and BJP MPs to address these agricultural issues at a national level, criticizing their silence on the matter.
