Kochi's District Court was the center of attention as Pulsar Suni and five other accused appeared in connection with the infamous 2017 actress assault case. The survivor's advocate, TB Mini, shared hopes for a judgment addressing not only the main charges but also related matters including the contentious memory card issue and contempt violations.
The Ernakulam Sessions Court earlier delivered a controversial acquittal of Malayalam actor Dileep, the 8th accused. At the heart of the case lies the abduction and assault of an actress involved in the Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu film industries. The violent incident occurred on February 17, 2017, when a group forcibly entered her vehicle, but conspiracy charges against Dileep fell flat.
Encompassing charges from criminal conspiracy to gang rape, the case put 438 days of witness examinations under the spotlight. Amid procedural twists, including hostile witnesses and prosecutorial changes, the defense and prosecution presented extensive evidence. Dileep's acquittal met with gratitude, yet the Kerala Government announced plans for an appeal, reflecting ongoing legal tussles.
