In a significant step towards modernizing Haryana's agricultural landscape, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a series of initiatives designed to transform the state's mandis into transparent, farmer-friendly marketplaces.
During a Marketing Board meeting on Monday, Saini unveiled the 'Harit Mandi, Khushaal Farmer' initiative. This ambitious plan includes establishing farmer assistance centers in every mandi to swiftly address grievances, ensuring farmers no longer need to repeatedly visit offices. Emphasizing the future role of natural farming, he called for special prioritization for farmers practicing this method.
The initiative also outlines improved facilities for women farmers and traders, aiming to foster greater participation, and underscores the importance of transparency in market fee collection. Saini highlighted that mandis are crucial to the rural economy's power and efficient management is vital for maintaining trust between farmers and traders. Enhanced e-procurement, direct benefit transfer, and digitization of processes are key components of the plan, along with improved mandi facilities and road connectivity.
