The Indian Navy welcomed a new addition to its fleet with the commissioning of the diving support craft, A20, at the Kochi naval base on Tuesday. The ceremonial event was led by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, underscoring a significant enhancement in underwater preparedness and maritime security.
This is the 11th naval vessel commissioned in the past year, highlighting India's advancing shipbuilding capabilities. The ceremony included the reading of the commissioning warrant by Lt Cdr Hemant Singh Chauhan, followed by the hoisting of the naval ensign, national anthem, and a traditional salute.
Vice Admiral Saxena lauded the craft as a 'vital enabler' for underwater operations, emphasizing its role in reinforcing India's position as a preferred security provider in the region.
