Preparations are in full swing for the traditional Jallikattu event at Alanganallur, Madurai district, as authorities ensure rigorous safety measures. Comprehensive checks on animal health, medical facilities, and security arrangements are ready ahead of the main event.

Praveen Kumar, District Collector of Madurai, stated, "On behalf of the Tamil Nadu government, the Commercial Tax and Registration Minister has flagged off the event. Maximum participation opportunities have been provided for bulls and bull tamers. Around 25 Animal Husbandry doctors are examining the bulls."

In anticipation of potential injuries to bull tamers, a specialized team of 11 experts from Madurai Medical College Hospital will offer immediate medical aid, Kumar added. Strict protocols are in place to ensure safety, he said, mentioning no major casualties have been reported yet.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will visit Madurai on Saturday to attend the globally acclaimed Jallikattu event at Alanganallur. His visit entails stringent security measures, including a ban on drones and UAVs throughout the region.

Officials have warned of strict legal repercussions for violations of the drone prohibition. Jallikattu, an age-old Tamil Nadu sport held during Pongal, involves taming bulls. Winning bulls are highly valued and priced in the market.
