In a groundbreaking development, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has implemented a robust strategy for revolutionary waste management, reflecting the city's commitment to sustainability. With a population approaching 40 lakh, Lucknow is leading Uttar Pradesh by ensuring 100% scientific processing of its municipal solid waste.

According to official reports, the inauguration of the Shivari Plant marks a pivotal moment for Lucknow, as it becomes the state's first 'zero fresh waste dump' city. With three plants boasting a combined processing capacity of over 2,100 metric tonnes per day, the LMC is eradicating open dumping and setting a definitive course toward environmental conservation.

The city has enhanced its waste segregation efforts, dividing waste into organic and inorganic fractions for composting, biogas production, and recycling. Reclaimed land at the site is being developed into a comprehensive waste treatment facility, with plans for a Waste-to-Energy plant to further transform the recycling landscape.
