Mizoram is pushing forward with expediting the exploration of natural gas and oil while harnessing green energy, as announced by Chief Minister Lalduhoma. Speaking at the 'Saksham' oil and gas conservation campaign in Aizawl, he underscored the critical importance of energy conservation for future generations.
Lalduhoma expressed concerns about India's energy vulnerability, noting it as the world's third-largest consumer of oil and gas, with imports covering nearly 80% of its needs. He highlighted the environmental costs of resource overconsumption, particularly in terms of emission-related air pollution.
In efforts to promote sustainable energy, the Chief Minister highlighted progress in Mizoram's domestic gas pipeline expansion, extending from Tripura, and improvements to the Mualkhang gas bottling plant. Plans for establishing an oil depot are in motion, alongside the state's existing distribution network.
