Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has stressed the need for proactive water conservation planning before the upcoming monsoon season. Addressing district collectors in a video conference organized jointly by the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the State Government, Patel emphasized the importance of maximizing rainwater harvesting to maintain Gujarat's leading status in water conservation.

The conference, attended by Union Minister C R Patil and other officials from the central government, as well as state officials and district collectors, focused on reviewing the progress of the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 2.0 campaign. Presentations from Banaskantha, Kutch, and Rajkot district collectors highlighted ongoing projects aimed at boosting rainwater storage and future plans to optimize efforts across the state.

CM Patel, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, urged collectors to implement long-term strategies and foster healthy competition among districts. The state has allocated grants to support these initiatives, with Rs 553 crore set aside by the central government to ensure successful campaign execution by March 2026. Union Minister Patil praised Gujarat as a national model and encouraged further NGO involvement to enhance the state's water conservation efforts.
