Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Sunday implored the Indian government to place humanity above politics as tensions escalate in West Asia. Addressing reporters, Khurshid remarked, "This is not the time for politics. I urge the government to advocate for humanity. India's voice used to resonate globally."

Earlier, Khurshid emphasized the necessity for India to intervene in halting military escalation in the Middle East, linking recent incidents to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel. He described the sinking of an Iranian warship by a US submarine as a diplomatic shortcoming.

Khurshid lamented the lack of Indian diplomatic intervention in the conflict following a joint US-Israel strike killing Iran's Supreme Leader. He questioned India's foreign policy approach and stressed the impact of such wars on global society.
