Maharashtra's legislative body is grappling with an alarming shortage of LPG supplies, as opposition parties voiced concerns over the issue during their session on Wednesday. The shortage stems from ongoing conflicts in West Asia, causing anxiety among households about their daily cooking needs.

Vijay Wadettiwar, leader of the Congress legislature party, criticized the state government for failing to address the severe shortage. He highlighted that numerous eateries have shut down, and economic activities are being affected across Mumbai and Nagpur. The disappearance of a truck loaded with LPG cylinders has also emerged as a significant law-and-order issue.

The government is prioritizing LPG distribution for domestic and essential uses, but disruptions persist as reliance on international imports affects the supply chain. Political leaders are urging immediate measures to counteract black-marketing and ensure kitchens in government-run hostels remain functional while seeking alternative import routes.
