The Maharashtra government has intensified its crackdown on illegal black marketing of LPG cylinders amid global disruptions affecting energy supplies. Officials revealed that 2,129 raids were carried out across the state, leading to the seizure of 1,208 illegally marketed cylinders, recovering over Rs. 33 lakh from violators.

Enforcement measures under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, have resulted in 23 individuals being booked and 18 arrests made. To further curb illegal practices, the government launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline, 9769919229, enabling citizens to report domestic LPG issues.

Despite ongoing global supply challenges, the Union Minister assured that efforts are underway to maintain smooth domestic LPG distribution. LPG production has risen by 36%, with online cylinder bookings now at 90%. The government continues to monitor the situation to safeguard consumer interests. (ANI)
