An encounter between the police and suspects tied to the murder of retired Brigadier Mukesh Kumar Joshi unfolded Friday night in Dehradun. Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal said that during a routine check in Johri village under the Rajpur police station, officers received a tip-off implicating individuals in the case.
Reacting promptly to the information, the police pursued the suspects, leading to the apprehension of one in Guniyal village's forest. The pursuit escalated when a second suspect opened fire, prompting a self-defensive response from the police. The accused was injured in the leg and rushed to a hospital, while a pistol was confiscated at the scene.
Those arrested were identified as Mohammad Kavish Hussain Tyagi of Muzaffarnagar, injured during the encounter, and Shantanu Tyagi of Saharanpur. This incident is linked to the death of Brigadier Joshi, caught in stray gunfire during a road rage conflict earlier this week. SSP Pramendra Dobal informed that four arrests were made, and both involved vehicles are in custody, while other suspects remain at large.
