Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently honored key figures in Tamil Nadu's political history, MG Ramachandran and CN Annadurai, during a roadshow in Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari. The tributes highlighted the enduring legacies of these celebrated leaders.
MG Ramachandran, fondly known as MGR, was the founder of AIADMK and served as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister for a decade (1977-1987). Meanwhile, CN Annadurai, born in 1909 and DMK's founder, played a pivotal role in the Dravidian movement and served as Chief Minister until his death in 1969.
Locals in Nagercoil enthusiastically welcomed Modi's presence, with residents like Angel Sharu expressing pride in his leadership, viewing the visit as a symbol of national unity. The visit also comes as the state gears up for elections, with voting set for April 23.
