Sun-Powered Surge: NTPC's Solar Expansion in Rajasthan

NTPC's subsidiary, NGEL, is set to supply 150 MW of electricity from a 300 MW solar project in Rajasthan by April 18, 2026. This marks a significant expansion of NTPC's renewable energy capacity, bringing the total installed capacity of NGEL to 10,276.40 MW and NTPC's group to 89,528 MW.

NTPC, a state-owned power behemoth, announced a landmark development in its renewable energy portfolio. On Friday, it revealed that NGEL, a subsidiary, will begin commercial electricity supply of 150 MW from a substantial 300 MW solar project situated in Rajasthan, starting April 18, 2026.

This strategic undertaking is part of Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Ltd, a step-down subsidiary of the joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private Ltd. The initiative underscores NTPC's commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint.

With this addition, the NGEL group's installed capacity will rise to 10,276.40 MW, while NTPC's overall installed and commercial capacities will reach 89,528 MW and 88,448 MW, respectively. This expansion highlights the significant strides NTPC is making in the green energy sector.
