Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh has taken a significant step towards curbing illegal mineral transportation with the installation of AI-powered e-checkposts. These technological marvels have been strategically placed in key locations to ensure enhanced oversight and revenue generation.
The district, often dubbed India's 'Energy Capital' due to its abundant coal reserves, will witness unprecedented transparency in its mining operations through this initiative. At the heart of the system are advanced features like automatic number plate recognition and RFID tags, which have been made mandatory for vehicles transporting minerals.
Officials have stressed that this first-of-its-kind implementation in the state will lead to prompt action against violations, including penalties and vehicle seizures, as outlined in the amended mining rules effective April 16, 2026. This is expected to substantially deter illegal activities and ensure fair practice in the industry.
