The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of a brutal attack on the convoy of Member of Parliament Mitali Bag. The alleged assault occurred as Bag was on her way to a rally led by TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Arambagh.
According to TMC's social media post, Bag's vehicle was severely vandalized, and she sustained injuries from shattered glass. TMC claims this was a direct attempt on her life, spurred by BJP leader Amit Shah's threats. The party suggests that Shah's rhetoric has incited violence against its leaders and supporters.
The Arambagh constituency, currently held by the BJP's Madhusudan Bag, has been a focal point of political contention. As elections approach, tensions between TMC and BJP supporters have escalated, resulting in recent clashes and arrests. The community will head to the polls on April 29, with vote counting set for May 4.
