The Delhi High Court has upheld the interim injunction request by the children of Karisma Kapoor, ensuring the preservation of late Sunjay Kapur's estate by preventing the establishment of third-party claims on the assets. The court has mandated the submission of financial statements, while also freezing foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrency holdings.
In light of "suspicious circumstances" presented by the petitioners and Rani Kapur (Defendant 3), the court placed the responsibility on Priya Kapur (Defendant 1) to alleviate these concerns. The court asserted the need to safeguard the estate during what could be a protracted trial, ensuring the assets remain intact.
This development marks a significant turn in the high-profile estate dispute of industrialist Sunjay Kapur, with the court previously reserving its decision after hearings. His children, from a prior marriage with actress Karisma Kapoor, have contested the legitimacy of the Will. Legal arguments have seen Priya Kapur's defense against allegations of asset obscurity, while counterclaims of Will inconsistencies and asset disclosure lapses persist, underscoring the stakes in this ₹30,000 crore estate issue.
