Notorious Offender Arrested: Crime Branch Nabs Fugitive in Shocking Gang Assault Case

The Crime Branch of Northern Delhi Range apprehended Gulzar, alias Sonu, a fugitive wanted for a brutal gang assault on a minor. After evading the law since 2024, the arrest was made possible through advanced surveillance and local intelligence. Gulzar confessed to the crime and now faces severe legal consequences.

In a significant breakthrough, the Northern Delhi Range of the Crime Branch has successfully apprehended Gulzar, also known as Sonu, a fugitive wanted in connection with a violent gang assault on a minor. According to the release, Gulzar had been at large since 2024, evading law enforcement's relentless search efforts.

The arrest is linked to a harrowing attack that took place on October 5, 2024. Police reports indicate that Gulzar, along with associates Ajay, Neeraj, and Kamal, subjected a young boy to a brutal physical and sexual assault. Gulzar allegedly held the victim at gunpoint while his accomplices used blades to inflict grievous injuries on the child's head, stomach, and back. The ordeal left the victim unconscious and was only halted by the intervention of a vigilant local resident.

Under the leadership of ACP Umesh Barthwal, a specialized team utilized technical surveillance and local intelligence to track Gulzar. Acting on crucial information, police officers set a trap in Palam Village on April 29, leading to his capture. During interrogation, Gulzar admitted to the crime and revealed his tactics for evading capture. He now faces charges under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, which could result in a sentence ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment or even the death penalty. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police also secured an arrest in a separate murder case involving another fugitive who engaged officers in a shootout.
