Supriya Sule, MP from NCP(SP), on Thursday emphasized the unwavering unity of the Pawar family, stressing that politics and family should never intersect. Sule affirmed, "The Pawar family stood united yesterday, remains united today, and will stay united tomorrow. Politics and family are distinct. I treasure my family relations and have no intention of running against them in elections, neither in the past nor in 2029."
Addressing the public transport situation in Maharashtra, Sule underlined the urgent need for modernization and reliable service delivery. "My overarching goal is national service, irrespective of my political standing. Internal conflicts only harm party workers, and I am committed to ensuring my actions do not cause them distress. Regarding public matters, my stance is transparent: Maharashtra demands a comprehensive overhaul of its public transport system. Regulations cannot suffice—we need modern, dependable, and efficient transport services, including taxis, rickshaws, and buses. There's a necessity to elevate quality, enhance standards, and ensure timely services," Sule announced.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar reiterated the separation between family and politics. She stated to reporters, "Since entering politics, I've maintained that family and politics are absolute separate entities; Supriya Tai (Supriya Sule) has articulated this point excellently."
In other political developments, the Shiv Sena has re-nominated Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe and welcomed Prahar Janshakti Party founder Bachchu Kadu, who was inducted into the Eknath Shinde-led faction in a Mumbai ceremony. Kadu had previously lost the 2024 Assembly elections from the Achalpur constituency by 12,131 votes to BJP candidate Pravin Vasantrao Tayade. Nomination scrutiny is set for May 2, with candidates having until May 4 to withdraw. Legislative Council elections will occur on May 12, with vote counting scheduled for the same day.
