On May 1, Vishvajit Sahay, a seasoned officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) from the 1990 batch, officially assumed his new role as the Secretary of Defence Finance. This critical appointment in the Ministry of Defence was confirmed through an official release.

Sahay transitions to this position from his previous role as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA). An alumnus of St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi, he boasts a law degree and over 30 years of experience in Defence Finance and Public Administration. His illustrious career includes vital roles such as Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Department of Science and Technology, and Finance Manager in the Ministry of Defence's Acquisition Wing.

The appointment of Sahay is anticipated to reinforce financial management and strategic decision-making in the Ministry of Defence. Additionally, Anugraha Narayana Das, a 1991-batch IDAS officer, has stepped into the role of CGDA. Das, with academic accomplishments from Utkal University and the University of Ljubljana, has driven reforms in procurement policy and budgeting, aided by elite training from institutions like IIM Bengaluru and Duke University.
