BJP Leads Assam Assembly Polls with Strong Early Advantage
The BJP-led NDA is leading the Assam Assembly election race with a significant early advantage, securing 87 constituencies. The Congress is trailing with 21 seats. The BJP and its allies, including BPF and AGP, are showing promising results as they aim to form the government again.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Assam has surged ahead in the Assembly elections, taking an early lead in 87 constituencies, according to initial trends from the Election Commission. The ruling BJP is currently ahead in 71 seats, while the main opposition, Congress, lags with only 21 seats.
Strong performance by BJP allies is further solidifying the NDA's position. The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) is leading in 9 constituencies, and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is ahead in 7 seats. On the other side, the Congress-aligned Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and other parties such as CPI(M), JMM, and AIUDF, are leading in one seat each.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed confidence in the NDA's expected victory, aiming for nearly 100 seats with coalition partners. Meanwhile, Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi highlighted the party's vigilance through multiple observers across the state, monitoring the election process and ensuring fairness in the counting stages.
