In the midst of Assam's election results unveiling, Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi has voiced concerns about the slow pace of vote counting in the Titabor Assembly constituency. Despite early trends favoring the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Gogoi questioned the delays in the counting process on Monday.
Speaking to ANI from Jorhat, Gogoi acknowledged the fluctuations in counting rounds as normal and urged patience until the final results are declared. "We should wait until the final results are out," he emphasized, as the counting in Titabor appeared sluggish.
The BJP seems poised to retain power in Assam, steering the NDA to a decisive and near-landslide victory according to early Election Commission trends. The BJP is leading in 97 seats, surpassing the majority mark in the 126-member Assembly, positioning Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for a third consecutive term.
According to the Election Commission of India at 11.20 am, BJP was leading in 77 seats while Congress trailed with 25. Bodoland People's Front and Asom Gana Parishad held 10 seats each, and smaller parties held minimal leads. CM Sarma maintained a significant lead in Jalukbari, further asserting BJP's dominance.
In contrast, Congress candidate Gaurav Gogoi was trailing in Jorhat, with BJP candidate Hitendra Nath Goswami securing a significant lead. The early trends pointed to a closely watched contest as counting proceeded, with the ruling alliance maintaining a strong position.
