As counting unfolds in Assam, Asom Gana Parishad President Atul Bora has voiced strong confidence in the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) electoral success. Bora attributes this optimism to the development efforts led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, suggesting that the people of Assam are firmly in their corner.
During an interview with ANI, Bora remarked, "This marks a promising start. I have no doubt that we will emerge victorious. NDA stands a chance to perform better than before. Our government's developmental work in Assam resonates with the masses, unlike Congress, which has failed the people and lost their trust." He emphasized that the BJP is poised to secure a commanding victory, with Sarma slated to resume his role as Chief Minister.
On Monday, as the 2026 Assembly Election vote count progressed, trends revealed the BJP exceeding the 64-seat majority mark. This success is largely driven by a consolidation of Hindu votes, altering the political landscape of Assam. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP leads in 79 seats, followed by other parties, marking a disappointing outcome for the Congress-led opposition.
