Delhi's Traffic Crackdown: Revamping Enforcement with High-Tech Compliance

The Connaught Place Traffic Circle launched a special drive in New Delhi to curb unauthorized parking and wrong-side driving. The initiative, conducted with the New Delhi Municipal Council, recorded 201 violations, issued 88 E-challans, and emphasized designated parking. Future efforts aim for stricter compliance with upcoming amendments to traffic rules.

In a concerted effort to address traffic violations, the Connaught Place Traffic Circle, along with the New Delhi Municipal Council, initiated a targeted enforcement drive on Tuesday in New Delhi. The operation focused on curbing unauthorized parking and wrong-side driving along Baba Kharak Singh Marg, near the Shri Hanuman Mandir, with an objective to enhance traffic flow and safeguard road users.

During the one-day drive, which emphasized adherence to traffic rules, 201 violations were identified. Law enforcement issued 88 E-challans and 108 Vehicle Offence Challans (VOCA) to errant drivers. Five vehicles were towed away by NDMC cranes for parking infractions. An FIR was also filed at the Connaught Place Police Station against a TSR driver caught driving contrary to traffic flow.

The Delhi Traffic Police has expressed a commitment to continuing such initiatives to bolster road discipline and pedestrian safety. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted upcoming government plans for a structured, time-bound system to address traffic challans effectively, signaling a tougher stance on road violations with technological enhancements to the process.
