In an effort to address fuel conservation during the ongoing crisis in West Asia and soaring global crude oil prices, Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta has announced a series of austerity and energy-saving initiatives. Speaking at Lok Bhawan in Shimla, the Governor declared the official space a 'Fuel Conservation Zone' via social media, with Sunday restrictions on official vehicles using imported fuel.

Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal for prudent fuel use and administrative cost-cutting, Gupta revealed plans for virtual engagements on Sundays under a 'work from home' model, a slimmer official convoy, and a shift of non-essential meetings to online platforms to limit unnecessary fuel consumption.

Gupta also pledged to forgo using the state helicopter until tensions in West Asia decrease and fuel prices stabilize. He intends to formally request the Himachal Pradesh government to establish standard operating procedures focused on fuel conservation and lowering public spending, alluding to the Prime Minister's advocacy for national resource preservation.
