Assam's Agarwood Export: A New Chapter in Global Trade

Assam has commenced its first-ever export of agarwood chips to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, marking a major achievement for the state's agro-forest economy. This initiative represents a new chapter in global trade, highlighting the high demand and revenue potential for Assam-grown agarwood in international markets.

Assam has taken a significant step forward by exporting its first consignment of agarwood chips, valued at Rs 2.35 crore, to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Agarwood, also known as Oud, is a highly prized aromatic material extensively used in luxury perfumes and other products, especially in regions like the Gulf, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

This export, cleared legally, marks a milestone for Assam's agro-forest economy, demonstrating the superior quality of Assam-grown agarwood and opening up vast global market opportunities.
