The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) took charge of a large-scale counter-terrorism mock exercise at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi on Monday. The security drill, aiming to test emergency response capabilities, was conducted under the direct oversight of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and Chief Airport Security Officer (CASO) of the Aviation Security Group (ASG) Delhi.
Top officials from the CISF and significant aviation stakeholders collaborated to ensure optimal readiness during the operation. The CISF acknowledged in a post on X, "The Joint Counter Terrorist Mock Exercise at IGI Airport, New Delhi, was conducted under the supervision of DIG/CASO ASG Delhi with senior officers from CISF and stakeholders actively participating and coordinating exercises."
Participants in the exercise included personnel from CISF, Delhi Police, NSG, BDDS, DFS, DIAL, BCAS, AAI, and other agencies. The drill was designed to validate real-time crisis responses, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and bolster preparedness against emerging airport security threats. It underscored CISF's dedication to robust aviation security and comprehensive national preparedness.
In an earlier exercise in March, CISF had similarly assessed preparedness through a joint counter-terrorism mock exercise at IGI Airport. Personnel from various security, policing, and rescue units demonstrated strong operational synergy, signaling enhanced coordination against possible security threats.
A commitment to maintaining safe aviation operations with constant vigilance remains a central tenet of CISF operations, according to their statement. The force is tasked with securing airports nationwide, originally established to protect and manage industrial assets controlled by the Central Government.
Recently, CISF has reiterated its dedication to robust security measures with a statement on securing the newly inaugurated Phase I of the Noida International Airport in Jewar. CISF ensures a strong security framework, smooth passenger handling, and vigilant protection of key infrastructure, as expressed in their post on X.
